Intellectual Disability

Intellectual disability is a condition marked by significant limitations in both intellectual functioning and adaptive behavior, which emerge before the age of 22. Intellectual functioning, often referred to as intelligence, encompasses various mental abilities, such as learning, reasoning, and problem-solving.

Adaptive behavior, on the other hand, involves the set of skills individuals learn and utilize in their daily lives, encompassing conceptual, social, and practical abilities. The condition arises during the developmental period, which is defined as before the age of 22, and is collectively known as developmental disabilities.
